Language is home

In a constantly changing world, it is difficult to stay in it. In the end, the river of Heraclitus in which we can never swim twice is everywhere. But there is one thing that remains, which is how we relate to the world. In the end, everything has to go through the individual.

And there are not many channels of access to the individual. Understanding is the only gateway to everyone. The constantly changing world has to do so in spite of this barrier which is insurmountable. If the world is constantly changing, the effort we have to make to relate to it is greater. It is, inevitably, an effort to interpret, understand and recognize what is intended to be said in each situation.

But if the references change, the framework changes, and the whole floor moves, there is more and more room for error. And within this increasingly constant instability, it is not that we are precisely learning to improve our balance but, on the contrary, we are more insecure and apprehensive. Because the world becomes a darker and more opaque place. And in this inhospitable world that must be ours anyway, it must be through us. And what is closest to us, to individuality, the gateway to each one, what we should watch out for the most, is reason, which helps us understand, and its most direct expression, which is the language.

In the end, we see that in this world where their horizons are being erased and they become less clairvoyant, we can always count on language as an instrument that shelters us and is like a house. Our house. The first and last place of each day. A place often might be a little plain, boring, and too recognizable, qualifiers that end up being good.
